Contemporary leadership
Well, i have been a fan of practical leadership.... not theories mind you. i always pity the number of academics out there who researches on leadership and their theories and go round imparting their theories. you know what is so hypocritical about them? they aren't leaders!!! so much for the farce.
my ma proj is coming to an end. believe it or not, its the first time i had an all star line up for proj and i didn't rate myself well. let's do a personal reflection of the different modules which i took which had project... and how i cope with it.
LTB and CT. grp size 7. basically, i took a passive approach for towards both mods and let other domineering people calls the shot. i intend to learn to be a follower on both occasion. in ltb, there was good leadership. however in CT, a strong leadership is obviously lacking,
Micro econs... grp size 4. i think this is one weird grp in which i played to my own expertise in the subject and do everything on my own. relegated all the other group mates to supportive roles. and of course, the outcome was quite efficient and successful because of the slack nature of the people in the group. they have played successfully to my strength. i need to be fed with inspiration in order to have high work rate and apparently, many fail to see the point.
bgs... had a consultative style this time round and it worked, this is because 3 out of the 4 person in the group has similar working style and wavelength. to begin with. in terms of efficiency, this group got it. but due to a lack of someone who has clear direction, quality of the end product was not top notch.
ma... my second attempt to play the whole group to my expert power backfire. firstly, the group comprise of very strong individuals. it is like real madrid, a very strong paper squad, but the severe lack of teamwork is there. no communication, work duplication. doing the same thing over and over again. lack of trust amongst grp mates. i do not even have the trust of the grp mate to even allow for them to play to my expert power and neither is anyone interested to provide with the room and inspiration i need to carry the whole project through.
but i will like to examine this grp alot. as it provide me with good experience. the end product of the project is good but the process of getting there was bad. it is not about the different personality in the group. it is about managing a group of very strong individual. (actually that is not hard, that is hard once you factor in varied working style). think some evaluation on the past few days. just cannot get ans.
